The Rustburg Rescue Squad was formerly part of the Citizens Emergency Crew. We chartered as the Rustburg Rescue Squad on March 17, 1982 with 18 members. We began operating July, 1982 as the Rustburg Rescue Squad Inc. Our crew hall consisted of a small house and 2 bay shed loaned to us by 2 area citizens. At that time we had 2 ambulances: a 1975 Dodge van donated by the Rustburg Ruritan Club and a 1978 Ford van purchased from the Citizens Emergency Crew. In 1983 we had land donated to us for our new crew hall. The building of our new crew hall began in June of 1984. Our first meeting was held in our new crew hall on September of 1984. We now have 4 ambulances, a quick response car, and a crash truck. We have 24 senior members 7 junior members,  9 probationary members, and 6 associate members from the Rustburg Fire Department.
